The Media Centre opened its Lord Street building in November 2001, located immediately adjacent to the main Media Centre building, and opposite the historic Open Market. These offices were designed by award winning architects Bauman-Lyons, providing a wide range of studio and office spaces to meet the needs of creative businesses.
In 2002, the Creative Lofts were opened by Rt. Hon. Nigel Griffiths, the then Minister for Small Business. The Lofts provide live-work spaces for the Creative Industries sector and are managed by The Media Centre on behalf of the Places for People group.
In 2007 The Media Centre completed its creative quarter with the opening of the Friendly Street development by her Her Majesty The Queen. a stunning landmark building of 52 work spaces developed by Kirklees Council, it is designed specifically for creative businesses, and is an innovative example of sustainable construction.
